Data abstraction

Abstraction as the name suggests is simply hiding the background or the actual working of the program or a thing and simply showing the essential things to the user.

Example a car the driver only knows the job of the accelerator, clutch, brakes etc he is unaware of the working of these components i.e. the internal machinery and the working of these components i.e. the wiring, cooling system, transmission etc. In the same way a programmer hides the internal coding from the user who only sees the program-user interface and not the actual working or coding of the program.

So data abstraction is basically the act of simplifying the concepts into essential elements.
